Chesterton Middle School opened its doors to students for the first time on August 22, 2001. The Middle School serves all of the 7th and 8th grade students in the Duneland school district, which is approximately 900. Our MissionChesterton Middle school is dedicated to developing within its students the skills and abilities necessary to become lifelong learners, succeed in a changing world, and value themselves and others. |
Chesterton Middle School believes it is essential to:
- provide a safe environment
- provide intellectually challenging opportunities
- encourage healthy lifestyles
- teach students to work cooperatively with a group to reach a goal
- help students accept individual differences
- encourage a partnership with school and community
- develop critical higher level thinking skills
- develop citizenship skills
