Westchester is dedicated to becoming the keystone to developing successful students

Don't forget about our "Helping Hearts for Haiti" fundraiser February 8th - February 24th!

Duneland Community:

It is with great excitement and anticipation that I write to you as the new principal of Westchester Intermediate School. As your new principal, I thought it important to share some information about my approach to education and service to my students.

I believe that preparing today's youth for future success requires a team effort. Therefore, schools and parents must continue to work together to support our students. That work begins with high academic and behavior expectations. We must help our students learn from their mistakes and, when deserving, celebrate their successes. I believe that our focus should be on developing the whole child while fostering the development of a strong work ethic, personal responsibility, and decision-making skills. Regular communication is key for educators and parents to collaborate and support our students in every way possible.

In closing, I would like to express how eager I am about this wonderful opportunity. During the next few months, I will spend a great deal of time meeting with students, teachers, and parents while I learn more about their expectations and hopes for Westchester Intermediate School.

Respectfully,

Shawn D. Longacre
